Why buy 'it' for £10..... when you have £ 100's stash available to make 'it'????? IT.... is an over door hanger/tidier upper/keep the sewing notions handy/socks tidied..... hanger!! Just for a change... NO Hardware is needed! A few ladies - not connected to Sew & So's have seen this... they all said 'WOW'... can you make us one.... it would be so very useful..... "can you make it in pink"?, 'could it have more or less pockets"?..... there were more....but.... Your turn!. We will be making the 3 pockets deep version ....[purple sample with the red binding] - ..... your choice of colour....You WILL have homework to do!! well, youre all getting so good, we have to up the game, so to speak, on the projects.... and sometimes that means you doing some homework IN ADVANCE! You will need to prepare your fabric..... that means wetting it... drying and pressing beautifully!! IN YOUR KIT will be:- The hanger, the clear vinyl, thick/thin interfacing, backing fabric [which will be a toffee gold colour, but since its hanging against the door and you won't see it, and its for free......don't moan!!] WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:- your fabric needs to be Non-directional! [Directional fabric is where the pattern all goes the same way...... as opposed to a random print.]. You need 1/2 metre for the front; you also need 1/2 metre of contrasting fabric to make the binding.... THIS IS WHERE THE HOMEWORK COMES IN!!! more on that later.... you need Thread to match your binding [this is important] You'll need a ruler.... [not your old school ruler please.....something decent!!] Bring a Chalk marker or chalk pencil; Clips or bulldog clips are ESSENTIAL..... also bring your patience.... :-) The fabric for your binding - WHICH IS THE HOMEWORK - should be cut into 2" strips..... each strip should be 28" long - you will need 6 strips - THEN they need to be pressed in half along the length, after that, you open the strip and press the raw edge to the centre line.... do this on both raw edges. Once done, fold it back in half and press again..... This will leave you with binding that resembles Bias Binding...... [except this is not on the bias]you must be accurate about the pressing - make sure the raw edges are level. It's a bit like making bag handles! We're asking you to make the strips at home..... it's a time consuming operation with 5 meters of it to make, and we only have 8 ironing boards at The Retreat!! Now, you COULD use 30mm Bias Binding - which we have in the Club Shop..... it is £1 a metre.... we have a wide range of colours.... [in the high street it's anything from £1.25/1.75 a metre!]. You will need 5 meters. Your choice It's a different fabric combination..... so more learning! We do like a teaching point!..... and it's a useful item..... great to make as gifts too...... -

Getting ever closer - to that magical date in December! It’s time for making something for your table ..... we've made Table Runners before - but here we have a new pattern & a 'Modern' design pattern too!! You choose - do one or both!! We’ve had a bit of fun with this one….. we hope you will too! The Insulbrite is 42” x 22” wide….. but the Table Runner is only 15” wide….. you might want to trim it down & save your offcuts for mats which is what we did! …. In which case you will need more fabric! [bring another fat quarter of each colourway] You will Need to Bring:- FABRICS! Unsurprisingly!! Keep Reading….. Fabric 42" - thats WoF [width of fabric] x 18” for your backing...... 3 Fat Quarters for the runner 1 Fat Quarter for the binding Included in your ‘kit’….. it's simple this time - just the Insulbrite...... Heat resistant wadding .... 42" long x 22" wide..... [if you want more... just ADD the number of kits!]. simples!! You will need 3 colours of Fabrics Light, Medium & Dark….. IF you choose to do the pointed end Table Runner…. You will need 1 Fat Quarter of Light fabric or IF you choose to do the square end Table Runner …. You will need 2 Fat quarters of Light fabric For the Medium colour - you will need 1 Fat Quarter For the Dark colour - you will need 1 Fat Quarter OR if you intend to bind in it - 1/2 metre !!! [Thats 2 fat quarters] We suggest you print out these instructions to keep for Reference!!! You will need thread to stitch everything together and thread to TopStitch in….. plus of course all your usual sewing bits! IF you want to be prepared in advance... your binding will need to be cut 2.5" width, join your fabric strips diagonally... you'll need 3 strips WoF..... which you know is Width of Fabric!! [so... 120" of binding - which is a bit generous, but better to have more than not enough!]
