We know you like a challenge, we know you like making bags, & in this ever increasing safety conscious world - you need a bag to keep things safe! Close to your body! Enter then…. The August project…. The 'Valerie' Bag. Oh my goodness are you gonna love this one!! Make 1, make 5….. they’re great as gifts… fabulous to take out for the day - or on holiday! It’ll hold your passport, your phone…. Tickets, purse….. tissues even! There could be an ‘argument’ …. In the ‘What-If’ thought process…. That you line it with RFID!! but thats for another day. Now it’s not a simple make, birthing the bag, well…..its a very different process!! We do like a teaching point 😉….. so - come & learn something new, make something you can enter for The Bucks County Show…. It is a Crossbody Bag….. make it for yourself & maybe make several for gifts!! What you’ll need:- [ALL fabric to be prepared - in advance.... all wetted & beautifully pressed!] 1 Fat Quarter for the outside 1 Fat Quarter for the lining 1 Fat Quarter for the pocket linings Thread to go with your fabric - there IS top stitching to be done! Theres a Kit! (We know you like a kit) & there's lots of bits in this one!!. In your kit will be :- White zips x 2…. (One for inside & one for outside) Jeans needles - makes sewing the thicker seams much easier!! The hardware. 25mm (2 x D rings, 1 x slider, 2 x clasps & 1 x twist lock catch) The cotton webbing for your strap - there are different colours to the one we used before.... choose on the day! Thick/Thin to interface your bag with. The Hardware will be Silver as standard…. We do have a few Gold sets…. they’re limited…. But you can choose when you add your bag project option! -
Our Annual trip to The Knit & Stitch Show at Ally Pally [Alexandra Palace]. The cost is £42.00 [includes exhibition ticket &coach travel from Quarrendon]. You are welcome to bring a friend who is not a member of the Club [Should you need to bring a carer - there is a separate option for this!] If you are booking for more than one person.... please give us the full names of the other people you are booking for in the notes section. We're going on Sunday 11th October 2025.....l meet at 08.00... We will leave from The Quarrendon & Meadowcroft Community Centre HP19 9HH [the home of our Wednesday night group and The Retreats]. You will NEED to park in the Public Car Park across the road from the centre. we do NOT have access to the centre and thus cannot use the Car Parking system Bring your lunch.... food is expensive at Ally Pally and not always wonderful! there are plenty of tea & coffee stations..... and there's always the Prosecco bar!! We do have the wheelchair accessible coach - but we know [it's different to the NEC] that we get dropped off & picked in the car park! [there are no mobility scooters for hire - but you can - if it collapses down - bring your own] Its a full day, so wear comfy shoes... there's plenty of room in the hold for all your purchases! [If you purchase a new sewing machine..... check out who is your designated service agent..... Rona Sewing Machines at Waltham Cross deal with all the well known brands.... and you can ask that your purchase be assigned to them - if you wish!. Do talk to us if you intend buying a new machine! we know the people on the stands.... Jacqueline is very good at bargaining!!]
