It's all about Stockings & Bunting & WiP's at the July Retreat ladies - the one time in the year that we ask you to make a couple of items for our Group's - Christmas Charity gifting - wait... you thought it was going to be something risqué ??!! Nah! ........ 2 stockings we're asking you for..... and some Bunting flags - we have a really simple method of making those [thanks to Jenny Doan of MSQC] we'll provide all the materials for the charity stockings & the Bunting.... and we really would like your help to make them. The Stockings go to Emmetts Genies for their 'Year in a Weekend' and to Stoke Mandeville & Wycombe Hospitals many children's wards..... The Bunting is for Emmetts Genies, again for their 'Year In a Weekend' event - to decorate the Sumer Pageant. ['cos they've had to move venues!] IF you would like to make more for the 'cause', that would be fabulous! You are under no obligation to do any.... but it would be really appreciated. We need your Stitching Skills...... and if you don't sew - maybe you'll help us out with pressing the Bunting Flags..... there's a task for everyone..... but we really need your help! There will be a pattern for you to use & instructions - of course...... you get to take the pattern away to make more at home for your own use!. After that - it's down to the WiP's..... we've made a lot of projects this year.... did you finish them all?? Maybe you need some help with a project?? THIS is your opportunity to 'Just get things done'!! Maybe there was one project that you missed out on..... let us know..... we can make sure we have the pattern pieces available..........for you to copy! or maybe you want to repeat one!! ... you have to tell us!!! leave a message in the notes section when you're booking. IF.... we run out of spaces.... go thro the booking process and add yourself to the waiting list.... historically in the last few months, we have cleared the waiting list and still had spaces to spare!! -
Festival of Quilts & so much more! We only have a small coach.... Your entry ticket is included in the price along with coach travel to the NEC.... If you are booking for more than one person.... please give us the full names of the other people you are booking for in the notes section. We're going on Sunday 2nd August 2026....departure time is 08.30... We will leave from The Quarrendon & Meadowcroft Community Centre HP19 9HH [the home of our Wednesday night group and The Retreats]. Leaving the show at 4.00p.m. You will NEED to park in the Public Car Park across the road from the centre. we do NOT have access to the centre and thus cannot use the Car Parking system Bring your lunch.... food is expensive at the NEC and not always wonderful! there are plenty of tea & coffee stations..... and there's always the Prosecco bar!! Its a full day, so wear comfy shoes... there's plenty of room in the hold for all your purchases! [If you purchase a new sewing machine..... check out who is your designated service agent..... Rona Sewing Machines at Waltham Cross deal with all the well known brands.... and you can ask that your purchase be assigned to them - if you wish!. Do talk to us if you intend buying a new machine! we know the people on the stands.... Jacqueline is very good at bargaining!!] -

Sew.... we Celebrate today - our tenth anniversary! 10 years of the 'Aylesbury Sew & So's! That's quite an achievement...... We are expecting those who book for The Retreat to stay for the party & although you get a little less Stitching time… there will be treats! [if you go home early you'll miss out!] There is a small cost for those coming only to the party. (This will cover the same ‘treats’ as the Retreaters get) But you have to book!!! This Retreat will be a little different..... - Yes we are making a project.... which we hope you will ALL join in with - you're going to need to because.... well that bits a secret - only to be disclosed on the day! [well, girls have to have some secrets!!] You're going to need to bring your own fabric..... couple of coordinating/contrasting fat quarters will do fine..... something bright and jolly!! We have a kit for you too.... What we can tell you is.... it's an over shoulder Bottle bag carrier... in your kit will be the silver coloured hardware and the bag strap and the interfacing.... we suggest you use cotton fabric (quilting cotton) Its a quick make… & we know you're going to love it - so we have bought extra hardware packs for the shop!! AND because its our Anniversary PARTY… we’ll need to rearrange tables (around 1.30pm) we have some invited guests!! & unsurprisingly CAKE!! There’s no De-Stash…. Which leaves the small room available- & since we don't like ‘wasting anything’, we’ll be having a display of some of the things you’re proud of that you’ve made at Sew & So’s. Think about those items ladies, the ones we made all those years ago from the orange curtains!! & what about the ‘button, button, whose got the button?’ retreat….. do you still have the picture or clock was it! That you made? Maybe you still have something from the Royal British Legion event that we did.... or perhaps a spare flag from the Armed Forces Veterans Day flag that didn't make it to the 'cut'...... Let's take a trip back down Memory Lane….. things youve made…. Recently & in the past…. This could be fun!! There was the needleholder; and the Concertina Bag.... The Oriole handbag .... there have been table runners and quilts, Tote bags and the famous Fold-Up/Roll-Up shopper!, teddy bears and Luna Lapin's, cross stitch pictures..... Crochet Cardis, knitted sweaters.... Wiggly Bags, Pump Bags, Pencil Cases, Blankets and toys.... needlefelted items and jewellery! so many things we've made!! Now, if you cant make it to Retreat ‘cos the cat is having its hair permed or something…. There is an option to join us for the afternoon party! 🎉 Don't miss out on this event.... see you there!!
