- If you want to make the green one with lots of holly leaves and additional small red pom poms, we do have some packs of holly leaves & pom poms - but not many..... you will need to message us to 'book' them. [pack of holly leaves and pack of small red pom poms £5]
- If you make the Santa style one [in red/black & white] you will need a buckle..... Gold or Silver..... I used card for mine!
- If you choose the Reindeer one with the red nose and antlers..... you're going to need to bring a set of Antlers!! [I cut up a headband for mine!]
- If you make the Christmas pudding one..... we will have a limited amount of green & red felt to cut your leaves & berries from.

Everyone can do this one! Sewists, Crotcheteers, Knitters, x-Stitchers...... it's a great project for you all...... Christmas is just [depending on which date you look at this] 70 days away!!! thats 9 Saturdays!! ... just 2 more Retreats [This one & December!]. Eeeek!!! We last made Pom Pom wreaths in 2023!, don't know about you, but mine is looking pretty tatty now.... time for a refresh - and lots of ladies haven't made them before..... so here we go..... lots of ideas, we've made a sample selection, Green ones with holly leaves added, or White Snowballs with lights!, Multicoloured ..... an all year round version possibly?; There's a 'Christmas pudding version.... [although we do have to be honest, finding Brown yarn has proved to be extremely impossibly difficult!!], There's the red/black & white one to represent Santa!, you could use mixed Reds/White & Greens..... or maybe a dark colour with a white base and a snowman!...... there's mixed browns and tans with a red nose and antlers!! We're sure you'll come up with something amazing...... have to confess, we are kindov addicted to making them now!! We also have some balls of yarn, not huge amounts which we've bought ...... We've got a few black & red, even some white! it's £1.50 a 100g ball. AND because we know you are going to get addicted to these, we will have spare rings to purchase.... they're 60p each What is in your 'kit'..... The metal 10" ring & a set of Pom Pom makers...... and there's even a set of the teeny tiny fairy lights..... they're battery operated [on a flat watch type battery] and we will have lots of scrap fabric that you can cut or rip into strips to cover your wire ring. What you need to bring:- The yarn basically..... you need approximately 3 x 100g balls to make the wreath.... more if you're going all fancy schmancy!, less if you do the simple white Pom Pom one! [if you get a shivvy on, you can make 12 pom poms in just over an hour! This project will not take all day!!! - so you'll need to bring other things!!! some of your UFO's maybe?!!] -
The Aylesbury Sew & So's are again pleased to sponsor our 4th Annual Stitching Event for Project Linus.... We will supply the patterns and the fabrics already cut in kit form.... we're asking you to join us as stitchers for the day! Come as an individual or come in a group - it's up to you.... Whatever level your Quilting skills are at - Beginner, Intermediate or Expert ... we've got everything cut out - there will be something to suit everyone! - use the provided packs to make blocks or a whole quilt top. It's a Great Event to be part of..... 2 years ago we made over 200 quilt tops!! Featured on the BBC news too! There are patterns to suit every ability .... we are encouraging you to come in groups - from your quilting group, your crafting group, your stitching group..... bring your friends.... even those who cannot sew - they can be your pressers!! & we all need Pressers.....OR you can come alone - make new friends and we'll join you with other soloists! Last time was such fun... everyone said 'let's do it again'..... so here we are! a whole day of stitchery to support the kids..... The quilt tops, once they are quilted and bound, will be distributed to hospitals and schools and the women's rescue; to foster care and young carers..... children who are sick or disabled or simply in need, in our local area. We REALLY hope you will join us! and support this very worthy cause. Cost is just £6 per person.... there will be free tea and coffee available all day - just help yourself .... do please - if you want - bring a Cake to share.... 'cos that makes things go better - right?!! you do to bring your own lunch! [there is NO cafe!!] Please bring a covered travel mug for your drinks. The fabrics are all cut.... the kits are made up.... There are Cats & Dogs; Butterflies and Dinosaurs .....there's ... well, all sorts really.... and since we have made a very special quilt to be showcased by Project Linus UK for the whole year ..... - its a bit secret at the mo'..... we'll have that one too!!! We will have a fabric shop available on the day that you can purchase yardage for your own projects; [some is from The Aylesbury Sew & So's own fabric shop and some will be from fabrics donated to Project Linus] we have lots of white on white, blenders and spots, stripes & kids patterns! its just £13 for 2 metres. We've also got other haberdashery items, roller cutters [£9.50] and replacement blades [pack of 5-titanium £8.00], pins too [clover Flower Head pins-Red or Blue £3 pack/20] ..... [and we take credit/debit cards!!]. Any profit will be used to purchase wadding and backing to make up the quilts. We have all the extension cables you could possibly need; cutting mats, long rulers & lots of irons for pressing! [PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN EXTENSION CABLES OR IRONS] but don't forget your power cable and foot pedal when packing your machine, thread (grey or white) and basic sewing kit. We'll also have Rona Sewing Machines from Waltham Cross in attendance, bringing you the very latest machines to see..... & help with your servicing & machine problems!
