It’s a long awaited project – & we’ve been working towards it for a long time!! THIS MONTH its time for …… drum roll please…. The ‘No Binding’ Rucksack!

You could use this for a handbag, it has a secure flap over front & we’ve added a zip pocket to the inside for your valuables, as well as pockets on the front.  You could pack it carefully & take it for a weekend away…. Jazz it Up or dress it down with your choice of webbing & hardware!  & the absolute Best Bit… There’s no Binding!!!

Whilst this isn’t a difficult item to sew, it does have quite a lot of individual pieces – and it isn’t quick!  BUT then – it doesn’t HAVE to be quick – it’s supposed to be fun!!  & we can always finish it at club!!  & just think of the proud satisfaction when you’re complimented on your Amazing Bag!!!

What IF… you made this smaller? or bigger??….. just think of the possibilities!!

YOU NEED TO BRING:- [here’s a suggestion – why not copy & paste this into a word document…. so you have a ‘shopping list’!!]

Fabric… you need 2 ‘outer’ fabrics & 2 ‘lining’ fabrics – they need to measure 15”wide x 23” long… don’t go for a directional fabric- that just makes life complicated!  [as we found out!!]

You’ll also need a fat quarter for the front ‘outer’ hidden pocket if you want to add one – its optional!  (Some of our samples have them – they dont need zips, ‘cos theyre hidden by the front flap)

Alternatively- you could go bonkers & use a selection of 5 Fat Quarters to make your entire bag!!

The outer fabric could be curtain weight or quilting weight cotton (you’ll need to add G700 from the shop) for that!   OR to put it another way – 1/2 (half) meters of each – outer & lining & G700

You will also need vinyl or PUL or Faux Leather!!! [Larger pieces of vinyl will be available in the shop & on Trade Tuesday.]

2 pieces each measuring 15” x 5.5”

  OR you can make it from one whole piece – measuring 15” x 10”

For the hardware – you’ll need 

120″ of webbing (width is up to you), either 25mm or 38mm. [thats a bit more than 3m-but if thats what you’ve got, we can work with it!]

2 sliders, 

2 adjusters, 

1 x thumb catch/closure, (we will also have some of these in various colours available to buy)

& a claw hook/clasp/carabiner to go inside to attach your keys to! (Sensible!!). 

IN YOUR KIT:-

Will be the Thick/Thin wadding 

Bag Feet & a Zip for the inner security pocket. 

We currently have one sample made!!  We’ve refined it along the way….. and made a few changes to how it all goes together to make it easier for y’all to manage.  Once the strap is on – it’s like any bag we’ve made before!  & since the strap goes on first…..

We have 86 places available for the Retreat….. don’t fight!

So Looking forward to making this…. we have more samples all cut out and ready to stitch the strapping …… and we WILL show them off at club during the coming weeks!
